The Tau Upsilon Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated is ready to welcome all members who are looking to reclaim, transfer, or return to a local Zeta home. Sorors needing more information on this process may contact tyzmembership@gmail.com.

Although membership in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is by invitation only, we encourage interested women to contact our chapter at tyzmembership@gmail.com for information. Individuals who are invited to membership in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. have demonstrated a commitment to community service, scholarship, sisterhood, and finer womanhood. If you are considering membership, we encourage you to become familiar with Zeta’s Policy Against Hazing. You are never required to participate in hazing activities to become a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. In fact, members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and women who are interested in membership are prohibited from engaging in conduct that violates the Policy Against Hazing.

The recommended way to show formal interest in membership is attendance at the Informational Interest Meeting hosted by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

 

Attendance at the Informational Interest Meeting does not guarantee that an invitation to membership will be extended.

Policy Against Hazing

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated (the “Sorority”) has designed a process for the selection, intake, and education of women who aspire to membership in the Sorority. The goal of the process is to inform new members of the history, policies and procedures important to membership in the Sorority.

 

Potential members of the Sorority have the right to participate in the process in environments that are not intentionally harmful.

Individuals who engage in hazing activities risk sanctions by the Sorority and criminal sanctions.

Hazing in any form or fashion is contrary to the philosophy and objectives of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and as such, the Sorority emphatically prohibits and denounces hazing.

Defining Hazing

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority defines hazing as any action or activity which:

  • brings about physical, mental, emotional or psychological harm to the potential member or is humiliating in its intent;

  • is vulgar, abusive, physically exhausting or dangerous;

  • materially disrupts an individual’s academic, professional, and personal endeavors;

  • abridges a person’s moral, religious or dietary beliefs;

  • compels an individual to break the rules and regulations of her college or university, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated or other entities; or

  • is defined as hazing under applicable laws.

 

Members of the Sorority who become aware of hazing activities have a responsibility to report the activity to the Chapter Basileus, State Director, and Regional Director, as applicable, for further investigation.

How to Reclaim

Reclamation Discount Period: July 1 - September 30

Our reclamation period is here! While reclamation can happen at any time of the year, we dedicate this period (July 1 – September 30) specifically to welcoming our Sorors back home. Our theme is “Once A Zeta, Always A Zeta: Reclamation, The Time is Now!” We understand that life happens, and sometimes Sorors may need to step away from our beloved Sisterhood. However, we believe that our mutual love for each other and our illustrious organization is key to your return. No matter how long you’ve been away, “The Time is Now” to come back home! For those Sorors active in the Sisterhood, please reach out to those you know are inactive and encourage them on their journey back. Let them know that the Sisterhood is not complete without them: Individually, we are unique, but together, we are complete! RECLAMATION STEPS

  • Obtain the Chapter Certification of Membership and Good Standing card from your previous chapter, or complete the Notarized Self-Certification of Membership and Good Standing and obtain a verification letter from the Regional Director of the region you were last active in.

  • The chapter will provide the link to the reclamation portal where you may submit your information for verification and approval. Please be sure you have identified the chapter in which you wish to reclaim.

  • Once you have received approval from International Headquarters, you will be provided a link to pay international, regional, and state (if applicable) dues in the Member Services Portal.

  • Pay local dues to your chapter of reclamation.

  • If you are a Member-at-Large, and have been inactive for two or more years and want to reactivate, contact our International Graduate Member at Large or contact the International Reclamation Committee at nationalreclamationteam@gmail.com.

Once all dues have been remitted on the local, State, (if applicable), Regional, and International levels you will be fully reclaimed and active!
